In a speech at the Republican National convention, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley praised President Donald Trump’s policies on Israel and Iran compared to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden who practices a policy of “weakness.”
“Joe Biden is good for Iran and ISIS,” she said.
Biden was vice president under former President Barack Obama who removed sanctions on Iran in exchange for compliance on its nuclear program. Trump pulled the U.S. out of that deal in 2018.
“Obama and Biden let Iran get away with murder and literally sent them a plane full of cash,” Haley said. “President Trump did the right thing and ripped up the Iran nuclear deal. Obama and Biden led the United Nations to denounce our friend and ally, Israel.”
“President Trump moved our embassy to Jerusalem – and when the U.N. tried to condemn us, I was proud to cast the American veto,” she said.
In his first term, Trump indeed has made moves that classify him as a “true friend” of Israel, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called him in 2016. The American president also recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Haley is a likely Republican contender for president in the 2024 elections.
